Hi All,
Permission to post from mom. Please e-mail privately to
[log in to unmask] TIA!
I have a 9 month old baby. I had breast augmentation in 1998 (the Dr. did
not provide me with all of the side effects of the surgery). It caused some
major nerve damage to my areolas. I am able to produce some milk (about 24
oz per day). However I am unable to nurse due to the let down reflex issue
(the babies get frustrated because only 1/2 oz comes out at a time, then I
have to switch sides for another 1/2 oz. After that it is massage then nurse
and switch). It is very time consuming and stressful, but I really want to
provide what I can for my child and be more successful at breastfeeding.
Is there anything I can due to repair the nerve damage to allow the let down
reflex get signaled and start working? I have tried Domperidone, all types
of tinctures and teas. I continue to pump and bottle feed what I can, but I
wish I could do more.
Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.
