Perhaps look into the evidence-based neonatal resuscitation program (NRP)
which is updated periodically. Perhaps you have an NRP instructor in your
facility or region. You might even be able to contact one or more of the
national board members (if they have a board or some governing body of
sorts), especially another pediatrician, which might pull more weight with
your new doctor. NRP I believe teaches to clear the airway by suctioning
with a bulb or even just wiping secretions if needed, and to NOT suction
vigourous babies, even with meconium. The last time I took it the instructor
promoted immediate skin to skin contact, and assessment of the baby on the
mother, unless baby was in trouble.
