I'm still looking for people who might be willing to host a budding
lactation consultant from Uganda for a few days after the ILCA
Conference. Josephine is a native Ugandan, single mother of two young
daughters who is working tirelessly to promote and support breastfeeding
in her area of Uganda despite severely limited resources. She is
attending ILCA and presenting a session, then staying to take a
nutrition and wellness course by Dr. Sears' group in Denver. She'll be
spending a few days in Austin after ILCA ends and then will fly to
Denver the evening of Wednesday, July 28. Her course starts August 6.
So far I have one lactation consultant in Denver who has volunteered to
host her, but I am hoping to find more.
If you work in lactation and have a bed for her for a night or two (or
three), please contact me. If she had the opportunity to job-shadow
someone who works in private practice or a hospital, or attend a La
Leche League meeting, that would be a bonus. Please contact me ASAP for
more information if you might consider this. I'm involved because our
group sponsors Josephine through ILCA's Partner Program. Unfortunately,
ILCA is nowhere near Wisconsin this year or finding hosts for Josephine
would be easy. If you'd like to read more about her and see some
pictures of her working with mothers, please go to our website:
