All,

I'm an IBCLC, but in reality, work mostly L&D. About 10 days ago, a coworker came to me with a problem. (permission to post) She has a 5 month old nursling and has been doing very well with nursing/pumping up to now. About a week ago, she noticed 2 painful white blisters on one nipple. I didn't see these, but what she described sounded very much like a milk bleb. She did warm packs and continued to nurse, but says that nipple is very painful when nursing or pumping. When the blisters disappeared, 2 round open lesions, each just bigger than a pin head, appeared in their place, and continue to be very painful. She has tried Diflucan for about a week. Just got a text from her that things are no better today. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Debra B. Ray, MSN, RNC-OB, IBCLC
