I realize we're straying off topic... But Cytotec (an ulcer drug, which is
used in the combination abortion pill, RU486, and quickly gaining popularity
as an induction drug) is contraindicated in pregnancy, the manufacturer
states it is NOT to be used for induction, and evidence shows it to be a
dangerous to both mother and baby.
Just like pit to distress, Cytotec is fast, cheap and easy. But, the
consequences are serious.

Lack of endorsement means squat IMHO. Informed consent and refusal are also
recommended to be performed in a certain way but is that truly seen in real
life application? Practice style, peer pressure and local protocols are
what influence what physicians do.
Should this sort of practice be malpractice and strictly forbade?
Absolutely, except for the fact that whatever normal practice and protocol
is in a hospital, area or region is what is considered normal. So the
abnormal becomes the normal and cannot be prosecuted. True malpractice is
very difficult to prove and find though it shouldn't be.
