Somewhat OT, but I have been making my way through a murder mystery series written by JD Robb (Nora Roberts using a pen name).  It takes place in the future (2050's) and one they talk about a person as having "Professional Mother" status -- they are paid to be mothers until such time as they decide they want to return to work.  Or they maintain Professional Mother status until their kids go off to college.  I remembering reading and thinking "Now THAT is what we need!". (that and the ability to have our cars to vertical to get over & away from rush hour traffic, that was pretty cool too LOL).
