I had 2 kids with t-t. One clipped, partially, needed braces, only nursed part-time 10 months. The other, not clipped, Type 1, nursed 3.5 years. No braces.

Look under their tongues and see if the ones that need braces have tighter tongue attachments, and specifically less tongue elevation. I have 2 kids, the one with tt needed braces, the one without did not.
