Susan Nelson asks: [Could you elaborate on this statement you made
in a post on June 6:
"...now knowing that fenugreek is not
a good choice for those with possib= le thyroid issues"
I'm particularly interested in any
reported cases in mothers, and the dos= age the woman was taking.]
Susan, I am basing this on the latest information from Diana West and Lisa
Marasco in their book: Making More Milk. Ch. 12, pg 181 states :
"Fenugreek may not be a good choice if you have low thyroid because it
lowered thyroid hormone ( T3) in rats.
The study was: Tahiliani P, Kar A. The combined efects of Trigonella and
Allium extracts in the regulation of hyperthyroidism in rats.
Phytomedicine. 2003;0(8);665-8.
What are your thoughts???
