I wonder if this doc is confusing the relatively recent death of a
breastfeeding baby whose mother was an "ultra-rapid codeine metabolizer"?
The FDA issued a warning August 2007 because a 13-day old baby died from a
morphine overdose due to the mother's continued use of the drug because of
episiotomy pain, mother was diagnosed later with the ultra-rapid metabolism
disorder.
Still, pump and dump is not an answer...
Best wishes,
Sam
We're going to Candy Mountain, Charlie!
<<The explaination I was given was that, the observational experience (of the
physician) led him to correlate "depression (respiration etc.) in babies
with the
mothers(taking oxycodone) who are breastfeeding/providing expressed milk.
While watchful caution is suggested to make sure the infant who may
be "hypersedated" is properly cared for, avoiding breastfeeding doesn't
seem
indicated.
Thank in advance
