Dear Friends:
There are several articles about breast massage relevant to our work.

One, from the fabulous crowd of wonderful women who publish their research
done in Sweden, describes how a newborn massages its mother's breast and
makes the oxytocin levels rise as much as they would rise with suckling.
(Ransjo-Arvidson Birth March 2001).

Another is from Japan, the Oketani method of breast massage:

 This article showed that massage increased solid, lipid and casein
concentrations in milk. Mothers massaged one breast and not the other one;
milk from each was compared.

The third is from Dr. Jane Morton, who published an article "Combining Hand
Techniques with Pumping Increases Milk Production in Mothers of Premature
Infants" J Perinatology July 2009. One of the techniques is to massage
while pumping, to increase milk yield and also increase fat content.
