The only way to REALLY track rates is to collect data from pediatricians at each visit, then amass with demographics. Some studies have shown that mothers' recalls as to exclusivity did not correspond to real-time data (they tended to forget that they supplemented some formula earlier in the baby's history and did not report this on recall data). The only REALISTIC way to do it, if you have the time, is to do call-backs at around 18 months to get your data. That's how some facilities are doing it.

Subject: tracking of bf rates

I am wondering if anyone has a tool or some recommendations for tracking breastfeeding rates. I have found this very difficult to do as so many of my moms return to work after 6 weeks! I have traditionally relied on our WIC program's numbers as 60-70% of our mothers participate in the program, but would like to track my own if possible.
thanks!
