I was still in primary school when the Code was developed so I can't say
I've inside knowledge here but bottles are intrinsic to artificial feeding
(and in fact in many instances "bottle feeding" is the local vernacular for
artificial feeding). Promotion of bottles therefore = promotion of
artificial feeding.....and anyone who has tried to fight the battle of
organisations and individuals using a baby bottle to symbolise babies will
know that the connection in people's minds runs very deep.
And then there is the danger that bottles themselves pose to infants, so in
much of the world even if a baby must be artificially fed, bottles should be
avoided.
