The difference is that hydrous means water containing from my understand
whereas anhydrous means without.

Gwen

I've gone back and read the archives when I searched for Lanolin.
what
I gleaned from that is that there is a difference between standard
Lanolin Hydrous ointment and the stuff in the purple tube. Since the
time of the archived posts, the "other" company has introduced a new
product (TC Lanolin). I'm interested in hearing The Lists opinion of
how that stands up to standard Lanolin Hydrous ointment and the purple
tube lanolin.

My practice is starting to stock basic items for parent purchase in
each
of our clinics like Tylenol, etc. for parent convienience. We are
working away from sampling. They have posed a question to me and our
other Lactation
Consultants about what items we would recommend having available for
parent purchase. Even though we have carried Medela products for 4
years, I have never kept lanolin around as I'm not a big fan of
'routine' use of ointments.

Love to hear your thoughts.
