A baby was diagnosed with hypercalcaemia.  The nephrologist has told
the mother she can only breastfeed for part of the baby's feedings.
She has been pumping and formula feeding using a special formula
designed for babies wtih hypercalcaemia and putting the baby to breast
every third feeding.  I searched the archives and cannot find anything
about this condition as it relates to breastfeeding.  Is this one of
those situations where breastfeeding is contraindicated and the
formula is better?  They cannot find any cause for this condition and
are assuming it is related to the baby being born at 37 weeks SGA.
