This worked because lactose is milk sugar, so reducing maternal sugar
intake sometimes reduces the amount of lactose she can produce. #
I haven't read that article (1998) until now, and I feel confused now.
I've been a Lactnetter since 1999, read dozens and dozens of books
(included e.g. Riordan, Lawrence) and articles during the past ten
years, and from what I have read I've understood that a woman cannot
affect the amount of fat in her breastmilk by dieatary changes (like
the articles implies; no references are mentioned for that part,
though). Mother can affect the quality of fats in her bm, but not the
amount. And I've also understood the same applies to lactose level of
breastmilk, ie. that the amount of lactose is fairly consistent. Have
I misunderstood something really bad?
