I find this rather bold:
<http://www.paramountcommunication.com/nwica/NWA_Letter_to_IBLCE_on_Credentialing_19June2009.pdf>
or http://tinyurl.com/nrartq
The National WIC Association is opposed to IBLCE’s plans to create a second credential. I like their reasoning, especially this,
“Developing a second “lesser” credential will erode the recognition of the IBCLC credential…NWA finds little benefit in a second credential for its breastfeeding support staff. Development of such a credential would only create a financial burden for WIC and confuse the public. Rather, NWA recommends that the IBCLC credential remains as the gold standard for lactation professionals and that more IBCLCs be trained at the local level to effectively support the work of the peer counselors in successful lactation management."
