I am a LC in a large NICU. My manager has recieved an inquiry from a co-worker who has never had a child or been pregnant who is "lactating". She wants to pump and donate the result to a milk bank. I do not know the identity of the woman or anything about her medical history. My first response was to ask if she has seen her MD about this. My second question was whether it was wise to encourage further production by pumping. My question to you is would this milk be of the quality that would be suitable for donation? Has anyone come across this request before?
