Just in case: I am not casting aspersions on either ACOG or NIH/NLM's ToxNet. The allegation about commercial influence was made by only one MD at my hosp.
But because the belief is so strong among a number of OBs that OCPs do not affect milk supply when begun at 4-6 weeks, I'm suggesting that a review of the published literature might shed some light.
I believe the literature will support the conclusion that the estrogen in OCPs does have a negative effect - but we have to see what the literature actually says, and how each study was structured.
