Our facility has a policy to continue to provide sterile collection bottles
for all mothers who are expressing their milk for their NICU baby. I have
heard that some hospitals provide a set number of bottles and instruct the
mothers to clean/boil them and continue to re-use the same set of bottles.
I have not been able to get a statement from a company that would say they
"recommend" re-using bottles for the mother pumping for her baby in NICU.
What do other facilities do? With the financial challenges facing hospitals
I would love to find a way to cut down on that continued expense as long as
we are not exposing the NICU babies to a greater risk of infection.
Thanks in advance for any ideas shared.
