Was listening to the NBC evening news when they reported a story about
passengers stranded in the Paris-London chunnel earlier today. One mother
commented there was "...no baby milk, no baby nappies. It's been tough...
awful."
Although I could sympathize with her concerns for her baby and herself for
the up to a 16-hour ordeal, all I could think of was how sad it was for the
baby and mother involved that the they weren't breastfeeding. Not only would
baby milk be a non-issue, but the hormones involved would have calmed both
of them. (I know because I had a "disaster" experience when my 2nd was 3
weeks and a huge tornado swept through the neighborhood, leaving everyone
without power for days. I couldn't believe how much breastfeeding helped me
stay calm.)
