The AAP "advice" which included "wash the breast before feeds" also caught my attention, though as Judy stated, I would much rather see that happen than separating mom and baby unnecessarily. In posting the AAP link, I was hoping to hear from someone that the CDC had updated their recommendations. The whole notion of 'just pump the milk' in the first 48 hours is scary to me when I spend so much time preaching the value of skin to skin contact and early/frequent nursing! I do not like for non-lactation folks to be making such an uniformed decision.
