Makes me think of something like diabetes insipidus :-(

I think I know the baby that they are talking about, as we had a 2week old
who had lost from 7#2oz @ birth to 4#14 oz when she went for her 2 wk
check with peds. She was not jaundiced. She was hospitalized for severe
dehydration, IV was started, Mother's milk seemed to be in well, she
obtained
4oz when pumping, I did pre & post nursing wts, which reveiled she was
getting 2 1/2-3 oz per feeding, but she cont. to loose wt & her electrolytes
were way off from normal. We ended up air-evacing her to Ark Children's
hospital.
