Some of us on Lactnet remember using this type of nipple shield many,
many years ago (with the glass base, not plastic)--the alternative was
a hard rubber nipple shield. When these were deemed inappropriate and
taken off nursing units, the nurses started using bottle nipples! Still
another non-functioning nipple shield.

It's a hard plastic base with a rubber top that easily comes off from
the
base. It's about 2+ inches deep.
