Ask any mother: she breastfeeds for the "nutrients" or for the "health
benefits". It's all about the milk.

Not that I know it makes a difference much of the time, but this is the
reason I try to go back to Miriam Labbok's "flower bloom" graphic of all the
important things that happen when a baby breastfeeds: child spacing, gut
maturation, immune system function, the emotional/physical underpinnings of all
healthy interrerelationships,learning/brain function, homeostatic support,
neurophysiologic maturation ( in layman's terms, not these! :), etc., oh and
transfer of calories, too. I end with the nutrient transfer, that is what formula
does, and nothing more...
We can only commit to continuing to share all this with families.
Peace,
Judy
