Beverly,
Sounds like an awful lot going on with that baby. When I hear of greenish
stools, I think of allergies first, too. However, I have learned that it
can take up to three weeks to clear all traces of milk from a mom's
system once she has gone off dairy, so 1 week may not be enough. The
bleeding may still be connected to this, or it could be something else.
Just for the heck of it: was baby nursing thoroughly on one side before
switching to the other? I would encourage this at the very least when
baby goes back to breast.
Meanwhile, screening for metabolic disorders is probably a good idea. I
feel concern as you evidently do about the black bags under baby's eyes;
that is usually indicative of allergies. Don't back off--- while baby is
off breast, you might encourage mom to purify her diet with a
low-allergen menu.
Good luck, and I'll spin my brains a little more on this one.
-Lisa
