I have to disagree with Heather about the UK position. I received formula
sample in a UK hospital years ago, so it certainly happened and I remember
monitoring weaning packs (form 3 months) with sachets of follow on about
10-14 ears ago.

I was at a study event for infant feeding co-ordinators (this is a post
within a hospital or Primary Care Trust -- varying levels of repsonsibility
for strategy, sometimes also clinical) in the NW of England yesterday on
this specific issue -- we had a talk by Gabrielle Palmer and then did group
work on the kind of issues we have in our areas with formula reps. The
contact between reps and parents is not dead, along with a host of other
issues.

I know that in my own PCT (I am fairly new in post) I have not yet even
scoped this issue, but I know already that I will find some doozies, not so
much in hospital, but in community clinics.

Sadly.
