It sounds like there might be both a submucosal tongue tie, and a case
of torticollis or other positional molding issue and/or a nerve
impingement. Sometimes treating one makes things better, sometimes it
takes treating both for breastfeeding to be painless and effective.
You could try getting a physical therapy referral for the baby (or a
pediatric chiropractor, or osteopathic physician, anyone good at body
work that is clued in to this issue) to assess and treat the
asymmetries. Also try letting the baby latch with his or her head turned
to the side he or she prefers for now.
I'd also want this baby to get some extra milk, sometimes sucking and
milk transfer improve when the baby is better nourished.
If all the above does not help, and you can find a physician who can
diagnose and treat a posterior tongue tie....
