i am an ibclc that completed the ucsd lc course and my class was the 1st class to be used as an example. we were in session from sept to may. we has case studies and tons, i mean tons of homework. we had to follow a lc that was re-certified, and gini looked over all work and hours submitted. the couse is excelent for non-nurses. you get a chance to do what hospital do not allow us non nurse ibclcs to do. i would recommend it to any non nurse or anyone that does not work with babies!

Jan Cornfoot asks:
Nobody else seems to have commented on the post about the postcard sent to
ILCA members from UC San Diego.
This postcard says, under Lactation Consultant:
"..........All students are eligible to sit for the IBLCE exam at the
completion of the program. "
I have looked at the www.ucsd.edu website, and tried to look at the lead
instructor's personal website (pages won't load) for further information.
So, are they automatically eligible to sit for IBLCE exam at the
completion
of the program ?

I'm sure you can contact Gini Baker who is director of the program and ask
her. Her e-mail address is [log in to unmask] (mailto:[log in to unmask])
. I know a little bit about her program which is excellent, but not
enough to explain it cogently.
