I contacted Elisabeth Sterken to ask how INFACT has responded to the issue.
Her response is below.
Subject: Medella Violations of the Code
Ms Sterken
I am interested in knowing if there has been any discussion with INFACT
regarding Medella's marketing of bottles and nipples. I have searched your
website and find nothing regarding this. Your thoughts (personally or
collectively)? Thanks in advance for your time.

Hello Shelley,
I have been working with the US group NABA, whose director has been
negotiating with Medela about their marketing of bottles and teats. These
fall under the scope of the International Code of MArketing of Breastmilk
Substitutes and therefore the marketing of these would be in contrvention
of the Code. Additionally there would be a conflict of interest in the
relationship between Medela and the IBCLC regarding the granting of CERPS
by Medela. Such a conflict could be reflected in the Associations advocacy
for improved maternity benefits in the US, where the need for pumps is
largely because of lack of maternity benefits.
I would be happy to discuss this further if needed.
Best wishes,
Elisabeth Sterken
