Greetings,

The Pediatricians in our OB department have a new standing order that
all normal newborns are to have a discharge medicine called to their
pharmacy: Tri-Vi-Sol drops for the baby's first 3 months of life.
This is for the Vitamin D in the drops. The drops consist of (vit A
1500 IU, vit C 35 mg, and vit D 400 IU ). In the US we don't really
have a commercial grade vit D sold separately, so now
this.....................

I am researching the Tri-Vi-Sol and so far have found that it has lots
of artificial flavors and carmel color in it AND I'm looking for
current studies that address vit A and vit C needs for a normal
newborn. I have resigned myself to the vit D issue however I'm not
comfortable with this ENFAMIL toxic product.

I need to present a rational argument to the docs about this. Any
suggestions.
Thanks so much.
