I very much agree. That statement was one we found in surveying how
various conferences addressed the issue of babies in attendance back
in 1999. It came from an International Childbirth Educators
Association Professional Training Workshop brochure. At the time it
seemed innovative. If I were writing one of my own, it would be very
different, and we really should update our guidelines document to do
so. A lot has changed in the past few years. At the time we also
found statements for some conferences banning altogether any babies
over 3 months old, no matter how quiet they were. We can do better
than that!

(See the guidelines we wrote for "Breastfeeding Support at
Conferences/Meetings at http://dhs.wisconsin.gov/health/Nutrition/
Breastfeeding/BF_FriendlyComm/BFSupportatConferences.pdf )
