I am almost ready to celebrate with Magda and Rachel.

However, I suspect it will take some time to filter down to the Health
Visitor who recently told the mother of an exclusively breastfed baby (at a
first visit) that she 'shouldn't feel bad about giving formula top ups -
everyone does it'. She said it three times in the one visit and this in
spite of the baby having regained birth weight and showing signs that might
indicate mum has an oversupply.
We have had a really good breastfeeding policy here in NSW for the last
couple of years too.
http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/policies/pd/2006/pdf/PD2006_012.pdf
Unfortunately although it is a policy directive (indicating that compliance
is compulsory) there was no funding issued to facilitate implementation.
Thus, mothers here still tell stories of health professionals undermining
breastfeeding and the research I have done with these professionals
indicated that they have little respect for the policy or for breastfeeding.
While the policy is laudable, there is much to be done to ensure it reaches
mothers and their babies.

Cheers
