Wonder if the decreased level of estrogen is playing a role since gums are
"sensitive" to estrogen -- as is bone in the jaw. There is transient bone
loss during lactation (which generally increases to better than
pre-lactation per the lit) just as there can be prolonged bone loss with
menopause related to hormonal changes. And some women are more
sensitive/affected than others during menopause so wonder if similar would
occur especially during early months of lactation?
