for Jennifer Tow, Julieanne Hensby and the many fans of Niles Newton:
Jennifer, how fortunate you are to have heard her speak. I hope we cross
paths sometime soon so that you can share more of this experience!
Julieanne, these two volumes of compilations were published by Lynn Moen's
Birth & Life Bookstore, which was purchased by Cascade Health Care Products
Inc. in Portland, Oregon USA, http://www.1cascade.com. If you Google "Birth
and Life Bookstore," the link to Cascade will come up.
The first collection was published in 1987 and revised in 1990: Newton On
Breastfeeding: Reproductions of Early Classic Works by Niles Newton with
Michael Newton and Others.
The second collection was published in 1990: Newton On Birth And Women:
Selected Works of Niles Newton, both Classic and Current.
I searched our archives for "Niles Newton" and found many wonderful posts
there, including at least one post by Kathleen Auerbach.
I so highly recommend reading Newton's work. In the collection, "Newton on
Birth and Women", Part A is a collection of her speeches on women's issues,
including "A Woman's Viewpoint on Woman's Problems" which was a 1971
keynote address at the 3rd International Congress of Psychosomatic Medicine
in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and "Stability of the Family in a Transient
Society" published in 1976 by Year Book Medical Publishers with editors Victor
Vaughan III and T. Berry Brazelton - - so moving, and even more pertinent
today.
