Sorry to those of you who read this post on the PP-IBCLC
group but I need to know if anyone else has ever heard of
this policy from Medela.
I know most people new to private practice say they are
renting scales. I had a local Medela station that was all
set to rent me a scale at cost as well as sell me some
nipple shields and a few other supplies and was told by
Medela that would violate her contract.
I called Medela and spent a long time on the phone with
the rep. who had originally suggested doing it this way,
who now told me that she had since found out that this
3rd party arrangment wasn't allowed. She told me
my only option was to buy a scale at full price. I told
her besides that fact that my budget didn't allow that,
that I certainly wouldn't buy a Medela scale at this
point. It seems they have been so obsessed with the
bottom line that they no longer care about giving
help to the people that have built their business for
them IBCLC's and LLLL. I need to get a
scale quickly as I am getting calls from moms and before
I invest $850 I can't afford in the Tatina I am looking
for other suggestions and like I said to hear if anyone
else has ever been told this.
Anyone who is renting scales to another IBCLC, is this in
your contract?
