I've read "In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto" in the past six mo.(by
Michael Polan) I feel his premise is correct. We don't eat food in the US
anymore, we eat manufactured concoctions. I think this has led to the
problems we see today of so many people with food allergies and
intolerances.
One of his rules is: Avoid food products containing ingredients that are: A)
unfamiliar; B) unpronounceable; C) more than five in number; or that include
D) high fructose corn syrup.
Think about the next time you pick up a package of dried potato flakes
instead of real potatoes at the grocery store! We are what we eat.
Whatever happened to cooking? Pat in SNJ
