Hi--
I will be leading a discussion of recent breastfeeding research and would
like to ask all of you a favor.
Could you please email me your three or four quite recent
breastfeeding/human milk related research articles?
Iıd like to focus at least a little on these issues:
One--My slanted opinion that HMF is given far too often and may trade short
term gains for long term consequences
TwoGrowth charts hurt breastfeeding families more than they help
ThreeThe controversy about breastfeeding and allergy mitigation.
(Controversy??)
FourNot breastfeeding promotes an increased incidence of more infectious
diseases than we can count
FiveSome very clever research about nursing. (a la Julie Mennellaıs
wonderful and humorous studies, but newer)
No hurry. I need them tomorrow though . . .
Please email off list so as not to clog up Lactnet.
By the way, I had a very nice, very long phone conversation with Dr. David
Tayloe a few weeks ago. He initiated contact, was respectful of my feelings
about the AAPıs receiving formula industry money but he feels very strongly
that the way some of the pharmaceutical industryıs money is being used to
help at-risk children justifies the AAPıs taking that money. I will respond
to that soon. Obviously, I think that most of us would agree that no matter
how much good is being done with that money the conflict of interest and
Code violations are too egregious to allow continued reliance on funds from
those sources.
Again, your 3-4 favorite research articles about breastfeeding from the past
year or so.
THANKS!!!!!
Jay
