I wonder if the mathematician glanced over the World Health Organization and 
UNICEF's listing of infant mortality rates and child mortality rates in regard to 
the ranking of the U.S.

The rates country-by-country are staggering to read.  In countries where our 
American society is involved in war re: Iraq and Afghanistan, the rates of 
infant and child mortality are horrific, as is the case in other war-stricken 
countries where we do not appear to be actively participating in the fighting.
