Whoa.....my daughter who has the posterior tongue tie also has gigantic
tonsils. ( kissing tonsils) Interesting.
Anyone else see this connection?

I am wondering whether within that gene pool there isn't something that
causes tongue tie to be an adaptative mutation, like sickle cell anemia and
malaria. For instance, my daughter has enormous tonsils, I mean enormous,
almost the size of ping pong balls. I am wondering whether in a
preantibiotic
age, if she developed tonsilitis and further enlarging of the tonsils,
whether it
would have been an advantage to have her tongue anchored down in the
front away from her tonsils to prevent airway obstruction from these ping
pong balls in her throat. In essence the tongue tie might have been
responsible for saving her life, and though it can cause problems with
breastfeeding, perhaps in certain gene pools it saved more lives than it
took...
