I learned the marvelous art of breastfeeding from:
- LLL (I was an active Leader for 20 years!) and an active member for 2 or 3 years before I became a Leader
- just doing the darn thing
-my peers (breastfeeding moms and LLL Leaders]
In contrast to many of the Moms I have the honor of helping in today's
world, I KNEW that breastfeeding worked! I knew intellectually, (my
background is basic science, and I liked to read about "the biology"),
emotionally, (even though my Mother did not breastfeed any of her 5 children
[negative MD pressure], I knew that she wanted to so for me it "felt" right
and spiritually I really fell in love with the idea of sharing and the give and take that
is breastfeeding your baby!
Even though times are different (as they should be modern times and all !) I strive to help
today's Moms leave the task list behind, just for a while when they pick their little one to nurse.
