I would like to learn the mechanics that lead from the consumption of cow's milk to an overabundant milksupply (as mentioned by 2 lactnetters). In my understanding milkproduction is based on the amount of milk-gland tissue, the amount of prolactin and the interaction between prolactin and milk-gland tissue. What in cows milk will enhance either one or all of this components and how does it do so?
My impression with this and other cases similar to this one, is probably an underlying prolactin issue, like prolactinoma, medication or a personal overreaction to prolactin.
