Hi All,
This is my first post although I read the posts and learn a lot.
I am trying to help a mother of twins to BF. They were born week 34
and couldn't nurse for few month. I met them when they were 3 months
old. One of them was already nursing, so I advised the mother to nurse
him as if he was the only one. After one day like that he was only bf.
But He nurses for an hour every 3 hours and the mother (that have
another baby and 4 more older kids) is very tired of that. The second
one dosen't want to latch on. I advised the mother to try when different
times and locations, on the bath and when she walks were the best
solution but still he nurses only once a day when she is very full on the
mornings, and only most of the days. He doesn't let no one attach him
to the breast, he either accept it or not. Do I have to try harder? Are
ther ways for intervention? Is it advised to intervent?
I should meet her again this Fri. Now they are 4 months old. I'm looking
for your help with ideas to have the non-nursing baby start nursing. And
I'm thinking how can I help the mother with the nursing baby. She feels
as if he nurses all the time - she describes him as if he looks for the
breast all day. I know if he was the only baby she wouldn't feel like
that.
Thank you for beeing here.
