Despite being a better, safer drug and prescribing it for 10 years via a local compounding pharmacy, my medical group "found out about it" and are forbidding me from prescribing it ever again - based on a lawyer's review.?1. The FDA still maintains it is illegal to prescribe or compound it.? 2. The Medical Board of California agrees, despite the fact that adult gastroenterologists are OK to use it -?apparently they protested loudly enough after the June 2004 FDA alert that the FDA cut them some sort of deal and 3. My malpractice insurer will not cover me (or my group) if I prescribe it.? I have to present rebuttal to the group's Board of Directors - but I doubt I will change any minds.?
