I certainly understand the group's resistance toward Snappies' embrace of Mead Johnson. At our hospital, I welcome it because I have been told that we cannot afford to purchase Snappies. Sure beats the sterile specimen non-food grade containers we were using! At least I can hand the Snappies out with a clear conscious. Our NICU is getting an abundance of human milk fortifier anyway, so this is just a bonus.
BTW, there is no formula advertisement on the Snappies themselves. The words "Mead-Johnson" appear in small print in the corner the plastic package, which the mom will probably throw away. This is quite an improvement over Ross' breast milk storage containers which feature their teddy bear and the words "Similac/Isomil" on their lids in big, bold print.
For those hospitals who can afford to forgo this opportunity and pay for Medela storage containers instead, congratulations! Some of us out here who service a large Medicaid population with limited reimbursement must cut costs wherever possible, especially during these economic-challenged times.
