use the AAP/CDC growth charts. One of the concerns is that the WHO charts
do not represent the growth of children in the US. I found an excellent post in
the archives from Rachael Myr regarding how the study was done which led to
the development of the charts. I might try to explain this info to our peds. I
would love to know if any of you have seen a difference if your peds practices
do use the WHO charts.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And shouldn't that be *the* reason to use the WHO charts? They show normal healthy growth for all children worldwide. If a complete population does not fit into this, there is something very wrong with the habits of that population.
In my corner peds/wel baby clinics don't usually use WO charts either, but moms do! They have access to an online WHO growth chart (at <http://www.borstvoeding.com/groeicurve/>) and can see for themselves how their child fits into the universal standards. On the site are numerous articles explaining how to use and read the charts.
