(I have mom's permission to post) I got a call from a nurse friend helping a
breastfeeding experienced mom who is having a terrible time. Babe came at
37wks after a difficult pregnancy. He is now 3 wks old and had a tongue tie
clipped on Monday (nurse friend identified this problem). Mom tells me her
nipples are raw, he takes "forever" to feed and doesn't get much. He's had
only 2 poops since coming home from hospital and seems starving. When
formula offered he gulps but can't organize to swallow and gets it
everywhere. Doc isn't concerned about lack of poops or weight but did refer
for tongue tie. Mom has pump given to her at hospital and was given larger
flanges.
If you are a lactation consultant in this area (or know of someone
wonderful) will you please email me off list? Mom wants help.
