Dear all:
To put it more simply, I think we are all prone (and I include myself in this) to self-
selection bias when we discuss issues on Lactnet.
We see a connection, we ask if others have seen the same connection between a treatment
or condition and an outcome of that treatment or condition and if they have we conclude
that we must have some validity in our observation. Yet, we are excluding all those who
don't see a connection.
What we really need is to compare the frequency of occurrence of an outcome among those
that don't have the treatment or the condition against the frequency of occurrence of that
outcome among those who do.
Best, Susan
