Here is a reference for a published letter in response to an article that
recommended no BF with cracks or bleeding:

I disagree with Kathleen Bockhold's statement that "HCV-positive mothers
should abstain from breastfeeding if their nipples are cracked or bleeding." The
many studies of HCV-positive women breastfeeding their infants surely must
have examined some mothers with cracked or even bleeding nipples-yet there
is no demonstrated increase in HCV transmission in breastfed infants.
