Utah now has its first Baby Friendly hospital as well -- the University of Utah Medical Center, #73 in the US.
While I can't take any credit for this accomplishment myself, I do applaud the team that made this happen from my roles as mother, LLLL, APL/Utah, IBCLC, coalition builder, breastfeeding advocate, feminist, community activist, and fan of happy, healthy mothers and children everywhere.
I hope our first Utah Baby Friendly facility will inspire many more. And I hope families, HCPs, and the curious public will learn more about the 10 Steps and what it means for a community to be breastfeeding friendly.
Susan Johnson MFA, IBCLC
