First, there are lots of other reasons this baby may have developed hives.  It sounded like she Dx it--Did she speak with her Dr.
about it?  I don't think that we should assume. It could have even been a viral exanthem and even cold water can cause hives. 




Mother can have blood levels or milk levels checked for zithromax.




I think that 5 more days is overkill.  




She should probably talk with an allergist because he or she may have some good ideas

for how to proceed.  For example, even with penicillan allergic people they sometimes

desensitize them by giving really small doses.  




It doesn't make sense that it could be sequestered since she is pumping out the milk

and the mechanism for medications getting into milk is based on blood levels.
